My cousin recently shared this famous Mississippi Pot Roast recipe with me. It is now a family favorite! (Thanks Amy!) This is a perfect recipe for busy weeknights and chilly fall evenings because it is so easy. It takes just five ingredients and is made in a slow cooker.

What is Mississippi Pot Roast?

The New York Times traced the origin of the Mississippi Pot Roast to Ripley, Mississippi, mom Robin Chapman, who adapted a pot roast recipe to make it less spicy for her kids. Robin later shared her recipe with a friend, who contributed it to a church cookbook.

The Mississippi Pot Roast recipe has become so popular that the Times declared it in 2016 "the roast that owns the internet."
